To find these local guides on the web, I like to browse through Yahoo’s Regional Directory. I select Regional under Yahoo?s Web Directory and browse to my metropolitan area.
Local newspapers frequently list a calendar of events online as well. Some of them let you sign up to receive weekly notifications via email. If you don’t already know your local newspapers’ website addresses, an easy way to find them is back at Yahoo’s Regional Directory. Browse to your location and all of your local online papers will be neatly listed in one spot.
Online travel guides are also an excellent source of information. To find these travel guides, simply conduct a search with the location name and the word ‘events’ and you’re likely to get million of hits. These sites often feature movie show times, dining guides and other categories in addition to scheduled events. Most of them let you search by category such as family-friendly or nightlife as well as date range.
